A FAMILY FARM in
COOKSTOWN

Fenella's Farm

Three generations of this family have kept poultry on Tullywiggan Road. Fenella is a former poultry advisor who has spent her life around hens, and she now sells their eggs straight from the farm.

The FARM
1960s

Fenella's grandparents bought this small farm, and Granny Benson was first to keep hens here. Her dad Sydney built a poultry house, and a young Fenella followed him round it in her wellies.

1987

After Loughry College, just across the fields, Fenella put 3,000 Isa Browns in that old poultry house, then spent decades as a poultry advisor.

2016

She moved home and became a full-time free-range egg producer.

2017

In June she turned a shipping container into an egg shop, with a German-made machine that was the first of its kind in Northern Ireland. The alpacas came the same year, to guard the hens.

2021

A new machine arrived, with a locker for every size of box.

2022

The contactless egg machine came first, then self-serve coffee that November.

2026

Eggs and coffee six days a week, a barista bar on Saturdays and a food hygiene rating of 5.
